HISTORY: The Moth played an important part in the development of light-aeroplane clubs in the United Kingdom and became famous for its record breaking flights all over the world. Ordered for the RAF in quantity, it is one of the classic training aircraft of all time and represents a major British success in the golden age of flying. In the early 1920s de Havilland identified a need for an aircraft to meet the needs of the growing number of clubs and private flyers. In 1926 the manufacturers re-engined the aircraft with the new de Havilland Gipsy engine and a legend was born. With an impressive power to weight ratio the Gipsy Moth became involved in some of the most memorable record breaking flights of the day. Although a sturdy machine the designers returned once more to the drawing board in 1928 to meet overseas demand for a strengthened version. The new version was produced with a welded steel tube fuselage. The RAF ordered 134 Moths. By 1939 most of these original aircraft had been retired but with the outbreak of war the RAF impressed at least 146 civilian owned Moths. They were used for a wide range of miscellaneous communication activities.

Uncle Willie,

Thought you might like to see the Fokker DVIII that was made from the plans I purchased from you last year. The plans were enlarged to 150% (105"W.S.). It's powered with a Fuji BT64A and is a great flyer.

(This is a perfect example of where Bob took a printed plan, and by cutting it up into 2 strips, was able to enlarge it. Your printer, if they have the ability to, can alter any file, enlarge it and print the 2 halves out. You will have to glue them together but it can be done.)

This is my beautiful Navion plane plan, witch, you can build as a civilian plane or a military Ryan L-17B plane. The plan is a modern reproduction of the great Berkeley kit plan of years past. As all kits plans leave lots to be desired as scratch building plans, Berkeley included, a newer updated plan has been produced. This a very nicely scaled plan as you can see.

67" wing span. Length 53". Power .40 to .60.  2 sheets. No cowl to buy as you build your own out of Balsa.

NEW AND IMPROVED PLANS
11/15/06    I invested over 10 hours into improving these plans. The largest single improvement went into adding a fuselage side template. Many other imperfections where corrected, templates made, instructions written and improvements where made to make building this plane more fun and easier to assembly. These new plans are superior to the original plans and will allow you to build a plane that needs less trimming in flight.  These improvements will provide the pilot with a far better, safer, more reliable plane under power or while dead stick landing.

It is with great pride that I introduce my Das Ugly Stick.   Ever since the legendary Phil Kraft designed the Das Ugly Stik in the 60's, the familiar profile of the stick has been as common as a Cub at every flying field. Now you to can own the plans to Uncle Willies Stick and enjoy the fun of a "knock-around" general purpose sport plane with very little investment in building time and material. The greatest thing about a Stick is that it can be mild or wild, depending on the power plant.

And what a very rare find too. The original 30 - 40 year old plan had been rolled and carefully stored since being purchased in the 60s buy it's owner. This jewel was part of a 100+ plan trade.

Don't you be hood winked. Every plan I have EVER seen for sale are nothing but copies of copies of the paper plans that I used to sell many years ago. This is so true of every plan of the Ugly Stik/Stick that I have seen on Ebay.

The files will print 2 sheets 36" by 50".

Wing span 60". Wing area 720 sq. in. Length 52". Power .45 to .61

Das Ugly Stick plans 25" Wing Span

I had a request for a smaller stick to be powered by a .10 engine. We agreed on a 25" wing span. So here is the file, good for a 10 to 15 engine and pavement take offs or hand launching. Hmmm, why put on the landing gear? just dead weight anyway. Leave it off for and belly land in the grass.
Wing area 121 sq. in. Length 21".

The file will print a plan 36" wide by just 21" long.

I have heard horror stories about being robbed at the print shop, so lets look at the printing cost for this plan. Most shops charge 25 cents a square foot. This plan is under 6 square feet so the cost should be just a $1.50 plus sales tax. Shucks, at that price, you better print off a couple copies for friends at your flying field to purchase. $5.00 for your troubles would be a fair price for a printed copy.

Das Ugly Stick plans 60" to 120" ws ~ Enlargeable

Having had requests for larger ugly sticks, I have already done the work for you as far as the plans go. As is, this plan would print my 60" wing span ugly stick. BUT, I have  divided the plans into 18" wide strips. ALL you need do is to tell the printers to enlarge them by the % desired to get the wing span to fit your requirements. Example; 90 inches wing span is 90 divided by 60 = 150% increase in the Printing of the files. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT tell the printer that you want a 90" wing span!  They will be lucky to have a high school diploma and you do not wish to tax their minds on simple mathematic equitation's. Their little hard drives (minds) will surely freeze up :-O
Power requirements are a simple rule of thumb for the stick. For ever inch of wing span added, allow .01 cc of motor. So, a 90" wing span would require a .90 or less. 120 inches wing span ( a 200% increase in printing)  would require a 1.20 motor or smaller. Now what engine have you laying around gathering dust?

These plans use 5 files.
These are high resolution TIFF files containing 200 x 200 dots per inch.
The files will print 2 sheets 18" x 50" (Fuselage) and 2 sheets at 18" x 39.5" (Wings) and one at 36" x 10" (assembly instructions) which do not need to be enlarged.

I am ultra proud to be able to share with you and the world  Ted Teisler's YARD BIRD.

This is a beautiful plan that is well drawn. I feel greatly honored to be able to restore such a fine work of art.

Ted Teisler is a true RC legend from the 70s.

His vision of a world full flying lawn mowers was truly unique!  So if your looking to build some thing that will be the center of attention at the flying field, or, you just want to freak out a school bus of kids and a few dozen motorist. Then this is the plan for you! ..... Just think about flying this IFO at Roswell, New Mexico, or, close to the next UFO convention that comes to town.... Personally, I plan to fly mine near Mc Dill Air Force Base in Tampa.... I can hear the pilot radioing into base now. "Base, I got a flying lawn mower bogey closing in on me fast. Permission to fire"..... Base "Negative. I repeat negative, permission to fire is denied Captain. Now you get your arse back here right now!" .......... Base Commander to his aid. "Lets get 2 MPs down there to the Captains hanger and have them escort him over to the psyche ward." ...... Aid. "Sir,Yes Sir. I'll make sure he gets the same medical attention as the other 2 pilots are receiving"     LOL ,,,,  I am so bad,,,,,,, that I must be,,,, B-B-B-B-Bad to the bone.

HISTORY of the plan.  I took in the original 1975 plan in a trade from Canada. It was very fragile and brown and showing its age..... It was so beaten up, and missing corners, that it appeared to have had just fought 7 rounds with Mike Tyson!   I immediately provided first aid to the plan and got it stabilized. Lucky for me, the plan had "good ink" and was still restorable.

43" wing span. 47" length. Wing area 976 sq. in. Weight 7 lbs. Wing loading 16.5 oz. per. sq. ft.  Power .60

Plans include a copy of the original construction booklet that was included with the plan and the magazine article too.

A super BIG thanks to Richard M. way up north in Canada for this ultra rare plan.

Files $10.00

FYI    GOOD NEWS. Ted is still an active member of his RC club.

Chantilly Lace, The Big Bopper (1958)(telephone rings)

Hello baby, yeah, this is the Big Bopper speakin'
Ha ha ha ha ha, oh you sweet thing
Do I what? Will I what?
Oh baby, you know what I like

Chantilly lace and a pretty face
And a ponytail a-hangin' down
That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk
Makes the world go round
There ain't nothin' in the world like a big-eyed girl
That makes me act so funny, makes me spend my money
Makes me feel real loose like a long-necked goose
Like a girl, oh baby, that's what I like
